The Weekly Challenge

The Weekly Challenge 2020, 3 February – The Repair Cafe

Welcome to the first Weekly Challenge of 2020!

This week’s challenge is set by the Old Street Repair Cafe. Repair Cafes are events in which people learn how to repair household devices and objects to help prevent them going to landfill. They are organised by and for local residents.

Your challenge this week is to get creative and repair, or restore something around you. Use whatever you have available to you – you might choose to repair an object, like a piece of clothing, or restore a space with a spring clean. You might choose to ‘restore’ something entirely different – like turning old bananas into banana bread (or banana bread into the excuse for a restoring cup of tea…) What does the word ‘repair’ mean to you?

If you have more time …
Is there a Repair Cafe near you, that you could get involved with? Could you research to see what opportunities there are get involved in your local community, or how to set one up?

Think

How did you approach this challenge? What did this challenge make you think about, or reflect on?
