The Weekly Challenge

The Weekly Challenge, 17th May 2021 – CALM TAKEOVER – Sense and Colour

Welcome to week three of The Weekly Challenge takeover with Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM)!

CALM Art Collective invite us to explore our senses through the lens of colour. What hue are you feeling drawn to?

Choose a colour that describes the way you are feeling. Can you capture that colour through one of the five senses – sight, sound, smell, touch or taste? Choose one that feels interesting to you, and create a sensory experience to enjoy….

If the colour was a song how would it sound? Where might you often find this colour? Is it in nature, in the food you eat or the clothes you wear? If the colour had a texture, how would it feel to touch? If you are feeling energised, in vivid tones of colour you could play some music to get you dancing. Or you might be feeling calm, in muted tones and capture it through making soft lines in a drawing.

Let’s brighten up the week!

If you have more time….

Get creative with different colours at different parts of the day, or throughout the week. Create your very own colour journal!

How does the colour that represents how you are feeling change throughout the day or week? What could be the influence of these changes?

Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) are leading a movement against suicide, and for anyone struggling with their mental health.

Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives. And 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this. Through frontline services, national campaigns, and by building communities, they are there for everyone who’s struggling with life. No matter what.
