The January Challenge, Day 19 – Word Play
19th January 2019The 26 letters of the English alphabet make around a quarter of a million words – and more are created every year. Today, let’s celebrate language…and have some meaningful fun…
Play with words to create new meanings. Is ‘sublime’ a sub par variety of lime? Is ‘brexit’ sitting down to eat your breakfast? Over to you, Challengers.
If you have more time:
Learn the (more sensible) dictionary definition of a word you don’t know. Use that word in conversation today.
Think:
Samuel Johnson said “Language is the dress of thought” – what does language mean to you? How do you use language to express yourself? Do you speak any other languages?
