Week 6 Draw your online self
What a challenge – hopeless at drawing so this is my best attempt. I can explain better in words.
I’m more reserved and considered on social media than life and certainly not as outspoken. But having said that I only really air my views so vociferously with family, friends, at work, oh and when I shout at the telly.
My work educates me about scams and data protection and we hear about identity theft on the news so I am wary about sharing information. So I tend to post after the event, rather than ‘checking in’ and rarely include photos of people. But I am under no illusion – if someone wanted to profile me I’m sure they could!
In a previous life I worked in IT and I know how useful data is to companies. Even just looking at a website enables them to target products and services to you, but it is so much more than that!
And as for buying, selling and giving on line – I keep this to a minimum. I much prefer to go shopping, donate my no longer used stuff to someone who wants it and put money in a charity box.
I started using Facebook just over a year ago and I think it’s a great way to keep connected with friends, sharing jokes and encountering the unexpected including 64ma, new friends and holiday destinations.
I think I gave it 8.5 out of 10. Marked it down because of the outrageous comments some make ! But I choose to ignore things I don’t like 🙂
