Warton, North Lancashire – the village where I grew up and still spend a lot of time with family and friends. Its claim to fame is that ancestors of George Washington lived in the village and donated money to build the church tower. The Washington family crest – believed to have inspired the Stars and Stripes American flag – is inscribed in a stone slab in the church (originally used to be outside on the tower). The YouTube link is a video made by Steph of the village in winter a few years ago with her, I and a friend singing underneath the images. It’s a lovely place!
