The Weekly Challenge, 13th April 2020 – Micro Poem
‘Poetry is a piece of alchemy, a piece of magic, and it’s available to all of us’
Creative Manchester are based at the University of Manchester, championing creativity and innovation by bringing educators, civic leaders and employers together. This week, they invite you to get creative with words (and, if you fancy, you can share your poem to enter their competition! Details below.)
Have a go at writing a poem exploring the word ‘climate’ in 280 characters. What does climate mean to you? What do you mean to your climate? Maybe you are interested in the weather, climate change, the environment, or the political climate? What can you say in 280 characters? If you are writing, and not typing, that’s around 45-55 words.
To enter the competition all you need to do is tweet your micropoem, including the hashtag #micropoem20, or send your poem to Creative Manchester by email – firstname.lastname@example.org. The judging panel includes poet and Chancellor of the University, Lemn Sissay.
Find details on the exciting prizes here – deadline June 21st.
