Day 28 of the @64millionartists #januarychallenge and it’s about sharing a story that someone told you. .
.
My grandad was always telling me stories about his past. He’d go into so much detail that I could see it all play out in my head. .
.
You know that thing that a lot of older people do, tell you the same stories over and over. I love it. I never tire of it and I never interrupt it. I love seeing their eyes light up as they recall good times and feel blessed that they share those with me. There was a story my grandad told us for years and years about how he got his scars on his knee from a piece of shrapnel during the war. It wasn’t until I was around 13 that my Nan one day shouted out ‘No it wasn’t, it’s from when you fell off your bike as a kid!’ the cheeky grin that spread across his face was just. Priceless he had me and my sister going for so long believing that story. There were so many that he used to recall. Since he’s no longer here to tell those stories my Nan has started to share hers more. It’s equally as wonderful to hear. .
