Weekly Challenge, 22nd October – #WearExperimenting22nd October 2018
A picture is worth a thousand words. Do you agree? #WearExperimenting is an ambitious photographic project devised by artist Jo Howell and commissioned by The Cultural Spring (A Creative People and Places project based in Sunderland and South Tyneside) and North East Photography Network. The project seeks to engage the people of Sunderland in a series of experiments, intended to explore the cross-currents of creativity shared by photography and science and to invite the public to share their experience of life in the city. Together, we’d like to open up the first experiment and encourage people across the country (and possibly beyond) to try. So, for this week’s Challenge, we’re asking…
Can you capture a mood? Can you visualise an emotion? Can you re-create a feeling? Make or take a photograph of your mood. It doesn’t have to be of your face! Colours can say a lot about emotions, and objects too. Or go completely abstract and see where it takes you.
If you have more time …
Try the other #WearExperimenting questions, applying them to your home town. Can you take a photograph that describes living and/or working in Sunderland?
What does Sunderland sound like?
Did you find this challenge easy or difficult? How well do you think your photo captures your mood? Do you think others could guess your emotion or that you could look back and remember the feeling?
Artist Jo will be creating a wonderful archive of unique images of Sunderland, to be exhibited in a pop up studio in the city over the month of November.
