Weekly Challenge, 14th May – Story of a Statue14th May 2018
It’s been almost a month since our last Gateshead challenge. Where has time gone? It clearly flies when we’re all getting creative (and having fun)! Ignited by Gateshead Council’s Culture team, this week we’re asking you to keep up the creative energy and revisit the Angel of the North in your minds to gather inspiration. We think the journey may just transform your perspectives, feelings, attitudes towards the Angel of the North and statues in general…
Tell the story of a statue. When was the last time you visited or passed one? Why does this statue exist and how did you respond to its story? Relay your experience including thoughts/feelings and maybe some eccentric (potentially made up) parts if you want to create some drama. You could dream up the whole story if you’d like. Activate your imagination and make the story come alive.
If you have more time …
Read your story aloud to someone else. How can you use your voice and body to keep the listener engaged and intrigued?
Did you prefer using real life or imaginary experience to form your narrative? How did it feel to relive your experience or use your imagination? Do you feel a connection with your story?
