Here’s my guardian angel poem, for my Grandma, Minnie Barker.

Knitted Jumpers, Bingo,
Long walks with wet dogs,
Plate pies, pease pudding
Strong tea and fragrant roses.

Smoky front rooms, warm fires
Chipped ornaments crowded on shelves,
Caravans, early mornings
Picking blackberries.

Under the apple tree,
Your home a bolthole
A place to curl up and read
Calm, happy, peaceful.

Chatting for hours
Albums of faces, full of stories
Memories shared, passed on
Knowing this time would come.

No more visits or holidays,
Letters or phone calls,
But you are still here, always with me
My Grandma, my guardian angel.
