#theweeklychallenge this week was to choose an object which has meaning to you.
This is a sensory ball/toy bought for me by my friend for my Birthday. I often use it for check ins in sessions. I love the feel of it , and clients have commented on its soothing qualities. It can transform in to representing a persons energy that day, or simply as a throw/catch activity to get to know a person and to help bring that playfulness in the room. It also reminds me of my dramatherapy training friends & helps me to connect to the support & safety the cohort gives me. It gives me confidence in my abilities as a therapist.
So often objects in our houses are bought by friends or family. And so our houses are filled with treasures from people we can’t see at the moment. That is bound to bring up loads of feelings at the moment… This one makes me miss seeing my clients face to face and also my fellow Dramatherapists. This activity allowed me to give space to those feelings of missing seeing others. Maybe you could use thjs activity at home with your children? Who do they miss, how can you share the image with them?
