Create a magic potion #thejanuarychallenge #64millionartists (still in progress) According to wikihow when casting a spell you begin by stating your intention and considering the cycle of the moon. The moon is currently in waxing gibbous which is a good time for ‘letting go’ spells and that is good because that has been my mantra lately. When I read the prompt I immediately thought of the paper that I’d prepared with purple paint recently. I considered other more elaborate options but decided to go with my instinct to use this paper. I divided into 8 circles because there are 8 phases of the moon. I continued on with the steps for spell casting including repeating the manta and visualising the outcome while drawing. After a short amount of time a massive thunderstorm rolled in! I went outside with the paper and caught some raindrops so now the drawing/spell is infused with the energy of the storm. Then I continued to draw while holding the energy of the thunderstorm in my mind. I’ll post another pic of it once it’s finished.
Day 27 #TheJanuaryChallenge#64MillionArtists Gifted
Didn’t quite give gifts to strangers today instead gave gifts to folk I know to give to folk they know that I don’t, & hid 1 in a building where someone will find at a later date (spoiler alert: gifts = home made brooches)
Day 27 #TheJanuaryChallenge #64MillionArtists
Gifted – Well, I didn’t quite manage to give gifts to strangers today but I did give a couple of gifts to someone I know to give to people they know that I don’t, and hid 1 in a building where someone will find at a later date (spoiler alert: gifts = home made brooches)
I did it. Wasn’t planning on really goin anywhere and I’m super shy so even though it was right around the corner of my apartment it was still scary to place my gift on a car in the garage. #thejanuarychallenge #64millionartists #gifted #quote #note #gift #art
#Challengeday27 #64millionartists #TheJanuaryChallenge Thisevening I have been making ‘Oscar the orange octopus’ to leave for a stranger. I would like to leave him somewhere in or around Newcastle for someone to find over the next week. Any suggestions for a good hiding spot?
Day 27 – leave a present for a stranger.
All the bags of chocolate in the middle are from me. I decided on giving treats rather than necessities. I was comparing it with art not being a necessity but it contributes to our well being. This challenge has made me think I want to contribute to the food bank regularly. Maybe healthier stuff next time!
OK so *technically* I didn’t gift this, but @charlotte.hodkinson did under my instruction…on a visit to Bangalore last year she left a postcard addressed to herself and one addressed to me inside books in a second hand bookshop. Unless they make their way through the Indian postal system back to Peckham I guess they are gifts for a stranger!
Catching up – Day 26
Not my spirit animal… if I can choose though, it’s got to be a cat.
I made sure it comes with a title so there would be no doubt! Hey, it’s my first cat painting and within 10 minutes and good enough
(Bit of context: Did an installation in our part of Hull last June which involved 100 of these ribbons around 100 trees, each with a tag with a cross-stitched Hull2017 logo on the front and a text on the back, the majority of which were (parts of) Hull-themed poems by yours truly. Hopefully this little ‘herald of spring’ will have reminded some people of that )
Frequently done this with books that I’ve read, and by frequently I mean well into double figures times.. been doing it for over two decades too..
But today’s gift though, if you can’t tell by the photo (not of the genuine item), was lavender soap bought from my mother’s favourite place for smellies.. I gift-wrapped it, and left a jolly friendly little note with it to explain what the deal was..
..I just hope whoever gets it doesn’t get the wrong idea! Tee, hee, hee!
For Day 27 of #thejanuarychallenge I’m going to leave this book at the train station! The tale tells of a diary of a girl called Nao found after the tsunami – it changes the life of the person who finds it. It might even change your life too. A timeless story. Now it’s time for someone else to discover…

Day 27. Gifted. As per previous posts, my love of books and reading is quite apparent, so no surprise that my gift is a book. Or rather, several. We are lucky enough locally to have a phone box lending library. It is stocked by locals donating their read and no longer wanted books and I am happy to make contributions as well as withdrawals.
#TheJanuaryChallenge#64MillionArtists Day27 Gifted
I’ve tried sculpting today.
We often have “gifts” of household items left around our neighbourhood – my gift is crafted from copper wire (some intrinsic value) so hopefully it will find a home!
