#RebrandingBritishness #64MillionArtists @r-mjm @lifeInBritainLook How ‘SweetPolititiansTake The CrumbsOnTheirCountriesWorker’sTablesToFeedTheWellToDoOthersOnEarth’ Love them or loathe them – it isn’t a day out to the seaside in Britain without a pesky seagull trying to steal your chips #RebrandingBritishness #64millionartists @commonvisionUK If there’s one thing I think of when I think of Britain it’s the fun pub culture! #RebrandingBritishness #64millionartists I've always believed that Britain's strength lies in its tolerance, creativity and diversity. My rebranding of Britishness is about reclaiming the flag for everyone and celebrating all our colours, flavours, strengths, contributions, differences of opinion and shared values. #RebrandingBritishness #64MillionArtists I found this hard as I've never felt particularly patriotic and I don't think Britain is in a particularly good place right now... But, when I came to think about it, there are lots of things I love about my home country and its people's best characteristics. I've put them into a wordcloud (my first one since the January challenge!) and am finding I'm still thinking about lots of words I could have added. I chose a smiley face emoji shape to illustrate optimism, but think it also looks rather like a theatre mask (links to last week...) and British theatre is something else I love. Something that smells nice -my Mum always loved Freesias so this is in memory of her #RebrandingBritishness #64millionartists Day 65 Love it or Hate it ? #2O18challenge #csadaily18 #asketchaday #64millionartists #documentinglife #domesticity #mundane #householdobjects #objects #linedrawing #penandink #drawingart #creative2018 #instadraw #blackandwhite #illustrationgram #documenting #illustragram #marmite What does Britishness REALLY mean in 2018? As they say on Blue Peter “here’s one I made earlier “- an embellished Lino print made at a workshop last year. Day 6 : Something living Had to post a photo today (apologies) When you’re fed up with the kids find a box and pretend you can’t be seen Day 5 Shop Front Playing catch up again.. Fifteen years ago, Eddie Izzard made an excellent TV series called 'Mongrel Nation' in which he 'set out to explore just how English the English are'. (OK, that’s the English, and we're talking about Britain, but bear with me.) What he showed is that there have always been immigrants, from prehistoric times onward. How many people who pride themselves on being 'Anglo-Saxons' know that the Angles and Saxons were immigrants? Add in the 'Romans' (who didn’t necessarily come from Rome), the Vikings, and the Normans and you realise that even 1000 years ago we were already pretty mixed. (The Vikings got everywhere, so Scots, Welsh and Irish may have Norse ancestry.) I could go on - but my point is that in 'rebranding Britain' maybe we start talking about the fact the none of us is 'pure British'. We are all mongrels, and should be proud of it. Let’s celebrate out multiculturalism! Winchester Cathedral. Built by Norman French immigrants. Week 5 - Britishness I find myself a bit ambivalent about this as rarely think of myself as British. I'd say I'm a working-class Northern Lass first and then a European. Anyway, some photos of what I'd miss if I lived abroad. Well as a old lass from the North, well north of Watford gap anyway it is very rare that I visit the capital. But last year we did have a short stay with friends -over August Bank Holiday!!! I'm sure the many hundreds, probably thousands of visitors view this as Britishness! I'll have another go later in the week at a more personal view. :-) #64millionartists #weeklychallenge #rebrandingbritishness #seaside #bucketandspade 64MillionArtists - Weekly Challenges I am Brazilian and my husband is British. WEEKLY CHALLENGE : MASKS This week I'd planned to write something about masking my true autistic self when I'm in public. But I've been poorly so didn't manage that & didn't think I'd be able to create anything this week. Then I saw someone else had used a Snapchat filter so thought I'd have a go at that too. Sorry for the half hearted attempt this week, hopefully I'll be up to more next week. Something I like. Or rather ...love to eat : @kntanos It was a pleasure to set the creative challenge for @64millionartists and amazing to see all the masks over the last week.
